ke4emk,
Before you go for brute force methods to correct your
X5 problem (hard reset, returning your unit to Dell, etc.), you may want to try a quick and relatively painless method first....
Sometimes, the area between edges of the touch
screen and the
X5 plastic case collects dust, lint, and/or other debris, and that may be putting enough pressure on your touch
screen that your
X5 thinks you're continuously pressing on it.
Thus, to scrape loose the possible debris, try sliding a thin sheet of paper or a business card in-between the
screen and case along all 4 edges and 4 corners.
If that doesn't work and since you have a service contract, if I were you I'd send your
X5 in for a replacement. If your
X5 were out of warranty, you could try checking out whether or not the "black tape"
fix would correct your issue (see the following Aximsite link:
http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=44661 ). I've tried this myself on an
X5 Basic I bought on eBay that was stuck in an infinite loop of
screen calibration, and it worked fabulously to solve the problem!
Good luck! :approve:
Let us know how things work out....
