You do a soft reset after every Sync? Wow! I would delte the partnership and recreate it. If this doesn't work I would uninstall ActiveSync and reinstall a fresh 3.8 version. You may spent too much time just trying to fix this and at the end you will probably reinstall anyway. Save time.

You are absolutely right. Problem solved after A FEW hard reset and re-installations. Giveup on Microsoft. PPC and Window OS, just a like.
i think some conflicts for the third party software or specially for the 32mb x5. not enough internal memory. try to avoid unnecessary software into your main memory. it will reduce the speed and create a lot of problem during activesync
I've found that ActiveSync gets weird on me every now and then, for no apparent reason. Generally my problems start when one day I synch my Axim first thing in the morning and suddenly ActiveSynch tells me that there are thousands of items that need synching, even though it was fully synched the night before.
I've found that the following has worked to set things right each time: (a) disconnect the Axim from its cradle and perform a soft reset, (2) delete the partnership on ActiveSynch, (3) shut down the computer, (4) disconnect and then reconnect both the USB connector for the cradle and the computer's power cord [maybe it's luck and/or superstition, but whenever I've failed to connect/reconnect either the USB cord or the power cord, things *haven't* worked out for me], (5) restart the computer and (6) synch the Axim, recreating the partnership.
