Question Help needed on starting from scratch!

Hi all,

I have had my Axim X5 (Pocket PC 2002, 32MB, 300MHz) for nearly a year now, and it has become cluttered and slow. Basically I want to start again, but I'm a bit lost on how to do it. I'm not fussed about reinstalling the applications I've put on it, but I'm not sure about the Operating System.

I bought it on eBay (new, but without manuals / CD) so I'm not sure if I'm missing the O/S disk, or if doing a 'hard reset' will leave the O/S intact?? As a final point, would it be worth upgrading to Pocket PC 2003?

Any help / guidance would be much appreciated! :approve:

Thanks

Yep - a hard reset will leave the OS intact.

Whether it's worth upgrading to WM2003 is personal preference. If none of your applications require WM2003 then it's taste. Take a look at some screen shots etc. and see if you think it's justified. Just remember that Dell is no longer selling the upgrade, so you'd want to purchase the OS from Ebay.

Another thing to consider is the number of new app that are coming out that only support 2003- granted, these are still in the minority, but I'm betting this will become more normal, in time.

Good point. Could anyone tell me if there is likely to be much performance difference with 2003 (i.e. will it run slowly on my 300Mhz processor compared with 2002?). I don't want to upgrade and find it's slower than it is at the moment!
