Can you add some additional information.
Wifi Card name and model
Wireless router name and model
What is the error message you are getting or what's not working.

You have to sync WEP (encryption) on both the router and card driver on your Axim - make sure you are using the same key on both sides. You may want to disable encryption just for connection test.

Also check if DHCP is enabled on your router. If it does not provide ip addresses via DHCP - you should go to Settings/Connections and set a fixed IP address, netmask and DNS servers for the wireless card.

Also there are two Free Network utiliies at the download section at this site you may want to download and install. This may help you debug you problem.

I am using a Linksys Wireless CF Card and a Linksys WAP 11. Since posting my question I have discovered that I don't have a static IP address- might be part of my problem. I have tried to get online at some local wifi spots and still seem to have a challenge, even after surveying the sites and using the correct ssid. The message is that the web page I was looking for cannot be found. I have also gotten this result while connected via the cradle. Even messenger seems to not work all the time?

had a similar problem yesterday... took my axim out to the mall stumbling ( 2 jewelry stores and a sporting goods store with waps and no wep.... free internet for stew eh? ) when i got home i couldn't connect and had to fix it.

check you ip.... if it starts 169, your card is not configured correctly ... uninstall and reinstall...the other option is to ck your router settings... assuming your router is 192.168.0.1, with dhcp and dns through the router, static address the axim to an available ip( i set my router up to address 192.168.0.100 through 192.168.0.112, enough ips for 7 computers (yeah, 7 in the house on 2 networks :D ), the axim, an hp4000 and a few spares for good measure. when you use static, you may have to include dns ips(get those from your router setup).

You may also need to change some connection settings. Go to SETTINGS / CONNECTIONS / CONNECTIONS and select "Work Settings" for all the choices. The selection for "Internet Settings" will try to dial a modem which I presume you do not have since you have a WiFi card installed. This would result in the error message you are getting.

Have you figured out the problems with wireless? I can'rt get it to work either on the university network or starbucks. I put in the vpn address for my school and the schoolsserver is detected but nothing beyond that. I can't seem to find any good documentation for configuring the pocket pc wireless card. I noticed HP has special software for this. Is there something missing from Pocket pc to enable wireless connectivity. I have done the work settings setting for everything and the other advice here. I am probably doing something stupid. Any help would be great.

Still a mystery... the card is still not working properly. I just read the review for this card and can't believe it is this easy. I have been to many hotspots and picked up alot of node signals but just can't connect. Meanwhile friends with the Netgear card are surfing and im'ing circles around me- nobody knows the answer. The connection settings just seem too simple to work as well. I have returned the WAP and may just exchange cards. Frustrated Incorporated!

I agree that Linksys needs a better way to assist. I searched the knowledge base and called tech support. No help. The Linksys tech wanted to confirm a signal and told me it was working properly. But I still cannot connect- so much for detecting ssid signals. FOOEY!

Wait! It can't be? The card actually worked this morning at a local coffee shop- I cannot believe it. Details to follow.

Got a surprise this am- walked into a coffeeshop and again tried to configure my wifi card to get on the net. I simply set up a new configuration with the local ssid, applied the changes and boom I was on the system. Can't explain this after trying over 5 times to do the same thing. We are setting up a WAP in our office soon and will report back the EXACT configuration procedure. I still think the Netgear card may be easier to configure and get up and running? Also I have heard about stumbling freeware available on the net? And I heard an interesting word today called WARCHALKING.... hmmmm.

I went to tech support at my school and they set up my axim. But apparently even though they are using ms fortheir network, pocket ie does not work with it. i have to use different web browser i hope microsoft gets it solved so i do not have to buy a different browser.
