Well, do the obvious. Reinstall Windows Mobile 2003!
If your file is corrupted, it's your loss.

Hmm..no sympathy from you, eh? I sure hope your backup never flakes out on you.
@rogers -
I don't know how to help with this problem. I'm not sure Dell is going to be much help but it wouldn't hurt to give them a try. I wish you luck. Please let us know how things turn out.

Have you tried a hard reset? This will erase everything you've installed and put the X5 in the same condition as a newly flashed unit, except what's in BIS or on storage cards.

If I'm not mistaken, he's asking for the upgrade rom for WM2003 again?
I have all the roms that were released on the X5, including three backup files (SD, BIS, and PC).

Reflashing with the same ROM as what's currently installed on the X5 involves copying the ROM to a CF card and booting from it. Instructions are found here: http://tom61.arcadecontrols.com/axim_bootloader.html
But, a hard reset should clear everything out, unless the X5 won't start at all.

I think it can be understood from what is already said, but just to make sure, a reinstall of windows mobile is done by re-flashing the rom.

True, but the update won't work the using the normal upgrade process, the setup program will detect that the ROM you're trying to install is the same as the existing ROM on the X5 and will stop at that point.
