Ok, I just got my new Dell Axim today. I charged up the battery, installed the software and plugged the the Axim cradle with my USB port. At first it didn't detect, then later it would connect. After connecting, the active sync would turn off a couple minutes later. I've also tried to transfer some word documents to my Axim but it keeps saying critical communication error. I turned off firewall systems. Actually I uninstalled my PC realtime. Then I uninstalled Activesync and installed it over again. First unplugging the cradle first and it connected but AGAIN it dropped connection. When I go into explorer on this computer and into mobile device it doesn't come up with anything also. Can anybody help me?

OMG(Oh My God), unbelievable I actually got it fixed. I first uninstalled activesync. Then I just did a soft reset. Then I hooked my Axim to the comp. I let the comp detect it, then I unplugged it. Then I installed Activesync 3.5. I guess I dont' know FREAKIN why it hooked up, but it actually synchronized. So far it's been 15 minutes and my Axim is still syncing. Wow, FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for your sharing. "soft reset" brought my Axim USB connection alive. It suddenly stopped being detected from host computer after working successfully for months.

There is certainly a fair amount of Black Magic in Activesync. There is also 3.7 on the MS website (http://www.pocketpc.com) which has some fixes and is slightly more stable.
Always read stuff that will make you look good if you die in the middle of it.
