Main Battery Low

Late this afternoon when I was on my way home I got an alert from my Axim that the main battery was low and that to avoid data loss I should recharge it. I was surprised by this because I usually get much, much more time out of the battery. I took it off the charger this morning around eight and didn't use it any more today than I do any other day. Does anyone have any idea what would cause the battery to suddenly drain much faster today than any other day. It is charging up just fine now and everything looks okay but i would like to shed some light on this. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

Did you recently install any games? If you play games and then shut off unit without closing "all programs" first the game still runs and sucks the battery power. I nearly lost all battery power in a few hours once this way.

Thanks for the response.

I haven't installed any new games lately. The last things I installed were wisbar and the demo of the new pocket quicken. I'm very careful to close all programs often, firstly to conserve program memory and secondly to not drain the battery. Like i said today seemed like a day like any other but i got less than half the amout of use out of the battery. I've only had the Axim since January, could the battery be a dud?

I have read some threads about defective batteries on this site. If games are not an issue, the question is out of my league. Good luck.

Is it possible your Axim turned on by itself? That happened to me one night. I went to sleep with a fully charged battery and woke up with a dead one.

I'm near positive that it didn't turn it's self on. I never went to use it and found it on after I had shut it off. I'm starting to think that the battery has some problem but I'm going to keep a close eye on it for the next few days. It could have also just been some one time glitch due to the alingment of the planets or something else equally bizzare that will never happen again. At least that is what I hope is the case. Fingers crossed!

Do you use a USB sync + charge? I get crazy power readings when my battery level drops near 50%. I think the ROM update addresses some of the power reading problems, but I haven't installed it.

I'm still using the ac adapter. I was planning to update this weekend so I guess we'll see if that helps. Let's hope it doesn't hurt.:)
