Help!!! Axim won't turn on

An alarm went off but I wasn't there because I had forgotten the device at home and my mom couldn't close it so she just left it on. So when I came home it was out of battery but I had to go right after so I didn't recharge it. Around a week after that I recharged it and after a day I took it out and tried opened it but it won't open. The only signal of "life" I see is the little red light when I charge it or put it on the cradle and it eventually turns green.
I was wondering if it had anything to do with the fact that I have to reinstall ActiveSync since my old computer got rebooted and I lost everything.
Also, If i don't find any way to make it re-work, I was wondering if I could call Dell and If they would return me another one even though my dad bought this one on e-bay.

Please answer fast! Thank you!

I would try removing the battery and then putting it back...see what that does, if anything, and go from there.

You could try a soft reset.

I am having the same problem. I went on vacation and when I came back my battery was dead and the unit would not turn on. Most likely I had reminders going off that drained the battery down. I have attempted a Soft Reset, Hard Reset, Replaced the backup battery and have swapped with a known good battery and I don't get any signs of life out of the unit. I don't know if it is concidence or if I created a problem, but I had just activated a password before leaving for vacation. Help..!

Get a new backup battery, and remove the regular battery and put it back. Try holding the power button and reset button at the same time and see if that helps. And there is no way in heck dell will send you a replacement, people have enough trouble getting them to send new units instead of refurbs for defective x50's out of the box.

Unless you are one of the lucky ones that Dell just sends brand new X5's out to without any prior notice or anything!

It just baffles me because I can't get it through my head that something is broke. The battery just drained down, right? What could have broken? I have replaced the backup battery several times and have installed a known good battery, but still no luck.

Try hard reset, will it connect via activesync, does windows detect the device?

Thanks, Derek

I have never had a problem like this with the two x5's I have now. I am sorry, I have no other suggestions.

It definentally was not the draining of the battery that killed it, if must have been something else. No, it would not have anything to do with activesync, the axim is independent and will not delete everything just because you deleted it on the comp. The only thought in my mind is you may have gotten a virus? (very unlikely, there are little known wild and spreading ppc viruses)

Sorry I couldn't help, this just boggles my mind, Derek

You know what, With my first axim sometimes I couldn't turn it on at times, even when I knew the battery was good. I never understood why it did that, I haven't had a problem with it since. Maybe try pressing the power button a bit more firmly?, when you put it on your charger, does anything come on, try tapping where the start menu used to be, any beep, or sound?

Thanks For the suggestions, Derek.

I tried everything that you suggested. It doesn't make a beep or a sound at all. When I put the unit on the charger, it shows an orange light on the power button until it charges fully and then it turns green. I noticed that if I take it off of the charger and put it back on, that it would need to recharge again for a few minutes. So, I assumed that the battery was probably dying. I took my unit to a buddy of mine that has a functional X5 and we swapped batteries. So, with a known good battery (and backup battery) I tried soft and hard resets. Still nothing. My battery also would not power up his unit.

I agree with you that something shouldn't break, just by letting the unit drain down. I contacted Pocket PC Techs and they suggested that I should send it in for diagnostics.

I am still open for suggestions.
