X5 will not turn on after power off

I upgraded my machine to WM2003 recently, and now when it powers off I can't turn it on with any of the power button. The only way I can get it to turn back on is to unhook the battery and snap it back in again. I get the message saying battery power was lost, entered sleep mode. My battery is almost always charged at 100%, and when the battery is unhooked, and the machine is in the cradle, I still have the problem - therefore, it's not a battery problem, a terminal problem, nor a button problem. The buttons work fine as soon as the machine has power again.

Could it be a conflict with the firmware? All I did was upgrade the OS. I did not do any other sort of work with ROMs or anything. Seems like this could be a not unusual problem, so if anyone has any info, please let me know.

Thanks!

Hmmm. Well, the battery showing 100% does not mean that is what it is truly at. Have you tried draining the battery and then recharging it for 8 hours? That will reset any erroneous readings you are getting from the battery level.

Another option is to do a hard reset, then upgrade, then add all your software.

Problem solved - now to move on.

I guess I should have trawled the site a bit more - the problem is caused by the Dell foldable keyboard driver not being compatible with 2003. After uninstalling it, hey presto, the thing works just fine. I'll look for a compatible driver now.

Thanks for the welcome, and your suggestion. I'll be exploring this site a lot more in the future - it's a goldmine.
