Can't beam files

I can't beam files from my Axim...I have had the unit for about 2 years, and never tried to beam anything. i tried today and it never found the other handheld.
i even tried it with 2 different brands to see if it would work, but no luck. Anyone got any ideas why this function won't work?
the recipient enabled the receive function on their PDA, and mine said it was looking for the other, and we also put them close to each other with the IR ports lined up.
Is this just some Dell glitch?

Thanks

Ya know, I had this same problem but I didn't really think too much of it because I never use my IR. I tried to beam a very small file to an HP PDA but I could not get it to see the HP. I mean, I was standing at least 12 inches from the HP PDA and moved my Ax a little bit closer a little bit at a time to see if it would make a connection but it never did. I don't know what that's all about...maybe incompatibility?

Mad

I have the same problem. I cannot beam to anyone. I have not hear anything about it. I tried to call Dell support and was stuck in CS HELL for almost 2 hours. I think that I spoke to almost everyone in India. and all I got to do was tell them what my order number was.

The Axim has a million and one uses but sure would like the basic functionality of beaming someone every once in a while.

The X5 ALWAYS had very poor IR. I was able to beam items to my X5 from Palm's or PPC's, but could never successfully beam anything from it. Most folk reported the same from their X5's back when they first came out.

I don't know if Dell ever corrected this...I doubt it.

Has anyone heard anything since. It is the basic function that made pda's cool But now a PPC cannot have that basic function...I think that I should make a trip to Austin.
