AAArgh! battery not charging or sumfing!

help!

i bought 2 cheap axim X5's. got them, and there is no backup battery in them, although they both have main batteries.
so i got a sync/charge cable like this one:
http://snipurl.com/geqy

they both connect ok - and when they're connected, i can turn them on and go to options screen. the battery says it is charging, but it never seems to actually fill up. i left it on overnight and still nothing. whenever i remove the sync cable thingy, I can't turn them on.

most annoying..... anyone got any advice?

Those backup batteries are really cheap and readily available. For instance the Axim X-5 takes a CR2032. They sell for around $4.00 and I think I got a 2-pack for around 5 or so.

I would not rely on the USB sync cable to charge your device...get a regular power supply instead...you are only asking for headaches when trying to charge it with the USB sync cable is it is very unreliable.

The usb sync and charge cable is dependent on what kind of PC it's plugged into.

On my desktop it won't charge unless the PPC battery is more than ~60% full. On my Laptop it won't charge at all.

So if it's lower than that I have to plug the usb cable into either the car adapter or the wall wort-to-usb adapter to charge it.
