Mad Can't transfer files!

I'm using winXP with activesync 3.5 and synching is no problem but when I go and try to transfer files(e.g. MP3's) on to my Axim it just seems to stop for no apparent reason. And it seems to stop at random places. I've tried transfering files on another pc with win2000 and that works perfectly fine. I've also tried installing different USB drivers on XP but to no avail.

Anyone else ever run into similar problems?

I have a similar problem. I can install programs fine through Activesync, but when I try to cut and paste a file from my computer running Windows XP onto my Axim using the Explore funtion of Activesync, it won't work sometimes. It seems to be a sporadic occurance to. It will work sometimes, and not others. I had Activesync 3.5, and it was doing it, then I updated to 3.6, and it is still doing it. Any suggestions?

Do you have the power plugged in or just the USB?

Some people have reported that the the USB charging anone is not enough power ( depending on the USB port ) and larger files get killed since the connection keeps getting dropped.

It's a though.

I am trying to use the USB Cradle to transfer files. It seems that all files that I need to copy and paste over aren't working. I have to pull the CF card out, then transfer them through my PCMCIA adaptor. It works fine that way, but it will not allow me to paste from the desktop to the Pocket Pc through Activesync explore.

I do have my power plugged in when I transfer the files. I don't think that's the probem because I've tried it on a win2000 machine and it works perfectly fine.

I have the identical problem. I can't cut and paste any files into the ActiveSync explore window. It works most of the time for files <1mb but any bigger and it craps out.

Perhaps a usb driver issue?

In the Dell forums, they seem to blame it on the Intel 815 USB chipset.

Somestimes I have seen this happen. A soft reset sometimes helps. Also, I have seen this if you are trying to copy files from within WinZip, the copy does not take place. I have to extract the files to a temp directory first.

I am using ActiveSync 3.6.

If a soft reset does not fix the problem, then try unistalling ActiveSync on the PC (Do not delete your {devicename}My Documents folder). I have had to do this somestimes to get things working again.

Ohhhhhhhh. I have been trying to transfer from in winzip! Thank you so much for the solution. It has been driving me crazy!
