Exclamation Task Update Freezes Axim, Causes Unresolved Tasks

Soon after I installed Task Update from Microsoft (for French), I added a task, confusing Active Sync, which called it unresolved. When I tried to resolve it, I got an error 80070057, and it won't resolve.

I wouldn't care, but then my Axim screen froze up after a few clicks. Wierdly, I could write with the transcriber, but I couldn't hit the screen or press any buttons. I did soft resets which brought it back to normal, but then it kept repeating this unwanted freezing activity.

Now I want to uninstall Task Update (which is listed in the uninstall section), but I can't since \windows\pimapi.dll is being used according to the Axim, though I have been sure to stop all processes. I started the uninstall, which seems to have brought my Axim back without freezing the screen, but I can't get rid of the update program from the Settings.

Anyone have any ideas? Is the screen freeze related to this update? I took Tasks off my Today screen, and the screen freezing has stopped for now.

I have a French A02 ROM, 300Mhz, with 128 CF card.

Thanks in advance for any help, advice or resource anyone could point me to...

Rich

Try doing a soft reset, then without executing any programs, try the uninstall. Somestimes the DLL's are in use and the programs can not be uninstalled. If you do not run the program, the DLL is not in use yet.

I tried the soft reset. I even renamed pimapi.dll and rebooted and it still freezes up.

I am considering a hard reset.

From this site: http://www.cewindows.net/faqs/t-shootactivesync.htm

"If you get an error beginning with 80XXXXXX (where XXXXXX is any hexadecimal number) you have a corrupted record in Outlook. See ActiveSync - Identifying Unresolved Items to assist you with fixing this issue."

What is this "Task Update" from Microsoft? You don't need to load any files from MS onto your Axim. Doing so will mess up your Axim. You might have to perform a hard reset to get it back. Only download patches from Dell.

Mad me too!

My tasks are also doing the same thing. The option to sync them is removed in the Options for Active Sync, and now it freezes up after you select it! What gives?
Any suggestions would be helpful. I'm considering a Hard Reset as well, and re-installing everything too as a (almost) last resort!
