Mobile 5.0 on my Axim X50

Dell finally sent the new Mobile software and ever since I have had nothing but problems. I finally had to call the "Crappy" customer service, tech support in Canada to find out that my X50 does not have enough memory to support the new mobile software? Why did Dell send it to me then? I then get transferred back to Texas to find out that I may need to remove all my cards first when I power off/on the unit because of a glitch and most of my software I had on 2003 is not supported on 5.0 at this time. Why do they even offer the upgrade and tout how good it is with all these issues. I talk to Tech Support again and they tell me to contact Microsoft because they are aware of these issues. Makes absolutely no sense at all - Dell sells the product with the software then turns you over to the 3rd party because it is not their software, come on now - they sold the complete package to me not the 3rd party.

Anyways, I logged my complaint on this new site called www.gotgripe.com and who knows - but I will never purchase DELL products again due to their crappy technical and customer service on the support side.

I never thought I would say that, but unless they can get their act together - I am no longer a customer. Should have stuck with a Palm.

I hope you feel better now that you have this off your chest. A lot of us 50 users have experienced some of the same problems. Some are living with it until an update comes out and some (myself included) went back to WM 2003 SE. Give it some time and when the ROM update comes out, most of the problems will be solved hopefully.

Good luck and have patience.

Mad

I also wonder why Dell billed me for software that doesn't work then refers me to microsoft. I spent 2.5 hours with a tech support in south america to go back to 2003. what a pain that dell put me through. You seem so calm about it but frankly, I am p.o'ed. My system never worked right afte :realmad: r going to WM5. then right in the middle of the day, I had a hard crash. this was similar to my old pc blue screen. Thanx dell. sure do like your product...

I just sold my X50v and bought a 51v. I learned a long time ago to never do an operating system upgrade. There's always problems. Even if it does work your computer will always run slower. Having used both OS's I can say there is exactly zero reason to change to WM5. You get nothing in the upgrade.

When I still had WM5 on my x50v I never had any problems after I followed THIS thread. I eventually rolled back because I felt WM5 (the main advantage of there being more ram to run programs on) ended up being less ram then with 2003se. So I rolled back.

I share your support experience with Dell. They just s***, I'm tired of this Indian guys not answering my questions just talking to me like robots and then at the end they ask if there is anything else they can help me with(obviously they couldn't help me with issue I have). That pissed me off so much. I should have stayed with palm too or at least I'm going back to WM2003 because my pocket is useless right now.

Does x51v has the same problems with WM5 as x50v ?

go to Dell.com and choose customer support then choose Axim X50V and then choose utilities and drivers and you can download a simple application that puts you back at 2005 SE A05. I just did it tonight cause I am sick of 'memory errors' and resets...
