Seagate St1 doesn't like my Axim (I have the "no firmaware" card)

I have no idea what's up. I have a seagate ST1 5gb microdrive, with the known version that does work with a Dell Axim x50v. Yes, this is the one with no firmware on it. Anyway, I'm disappointed that the drive doesn't work when I inserted it into the axim. Funny
thing with this drive: It can read and write on my USB 2.0 reader, but my internal card reader would freeze trying to read the card. This reader doesn't freexe when I put a regular CF card in it.

I do know that the Axim's CF reader does at least partially work. It works with my Sandisk 512mb card.

Any one got this problem? Soft/Hard reset doesn't work. Updating the firmware to A04 doesn't work too.

Specs:
Dell Axim x50v
Firmware A04
Windows 2003 SE

You received a true IDE interface CF not a CF+ Flash memory

you sure? I bought two seagate st1 drives. One has the firmware 3.04, and the other one doesn't list the firmware. This one SHOULD work. Anyone else who has a seagate microdrive without a firmware stamped that doesn't work?

No firmware? No CF mode

Email Seagate. They'll likely tell you the bad news: you have a ROM-masked IDE CF HDD. Or, maybe it's defective. Or, maybe you can swap it for a CF-mode by stating your intent of use.

Just got my Seagate two hours ago. It does not have a firmware. Put it in the X51V and presto! it works. Moved my videos from the the SD card to this card and played them with no problems. Now I decided that it's time to put some more video files from my desktop. Plugged it in desktop internal CF/MD reader, I double clicked the drive but nothing happened. I almost burned my fingers when I tried to remove it from the reader. After it cooled down, I plugged it in the the X51V and got a message "Unknown Card in socket 1" I removed it and used a USB reader but the desktop failed to recognized it. Did I just fried this card? any solution?
