Question Is there a Bluetooth A2DP patch with WM2000SE on x50v?

Hey all you BT Headphone users :)

I have recently bought a pair of Bluetake BT450Rx i-Phono mini STEREO headphones which are fab. Trouble is I can only connect via the 'Bluetooth Headest' protocol on my Axim at the moment which is hideous mono sound!

Yes, yes, I know now that A2DP isn't among the WM2000SE Bluetooth protocols (I wish I had known earlier). So I was wondering whether to use my WM5 upgrade CD and see if this came with it but everything I read here is really putting me off trying. And Dell's 'upgrade' which is really a downgrade back to WM2000SE doesn't inspire me either.

So does anyone know how I can patch my WM2000SE A05 image with something that will give me A2DP Stereo goodness?

Ok so I managed to download the Broadcomms 1.6 patch thingy and after a bit of persuasion I managed to execute the CAB file from the WINDOWS directory on my Axim. Amazingly the High Quality Audio option appeared in my Bluetooth Manager but strangely the 'about' page still shows 1.5 as being in force.

I paired my i-PHONO mini headphones and managed to get stereo sound through but the remote buttons don't work and the sound won't go down lower than a ear-busting level.

My guess is I need to perform a hard reset to make the Broadcomms patch take hold completely but has this worked for anyone before I have to go throug all the pain of reloading my apps again?

Alnwan,

There a few links for the unofficial patch but the one I used can be found here:

http://www.pdagold.com/forums/view_topic.asp?t=5012

I didn't need to perform a hard reset, just a soft one to update the Bluetooth profiles.

Interestingly the patch does not add support for AVRC as far as I can tell. That's the bit of the bluetooth stack that is supposed to support incoming commands like the remote buttons on the i-PHONO headphones I have, which is a shame. Either that or maybe the x50V bluetooth hardware isn't up the job maybe?

Anyway, thanks mannc7 I might try the equaliser thingy y'never know it may help. Somehow I think the bluetooth profile is to blame though because my mobile phone manages to connect quite happily (in mono sound) without any such volume issues. At least the stereo sound can go up in volume which is great.

Seems as though AVRC will be supported in WM5.0 AKU 1.1/2 so I might just have to buy an x51v when the ROM upgrade comes out...

It's upto Dell Which profiles they chose to support. Hopefully they have realised the mistake they have made and will support more profiles if / when they release a ROM with AKU 2. As it also supports push e-mail I can't see them not releasing it. As you can see there are a lot of profiles that COULD have been supported in the current ROM. https://blogs.msdn.com/jasonlan/arch...01/508196.aspx

I have the i phono mini since one week and I will probably ask for a refund because the quality with my phone T630 is to bad. Is it the same for you?

Concerning the volume, it seems that it is not possible to change it from the headset after having started TCPMP or Wmp. If I do it, my iphono shutdown. is it the same for you?

But if I change the volume on the headset just after the BT connexion but before starting TCPMP or WMP no problem. except again that I can not change it after starting Tcpmp or WMP, even if I stop TCPMP or Wmp.

ThierryB (francais ou canadien?)

I don't know about the T630 model but my Nokia 6680 doesn't have A2DP either just the normal BT mono headest profile, which sounds awful too. Now that I have hacked my BT stack on my x50V and paired my i-PHONO headphones I have to say the sound is really clear and actually bettr than my sony headphones I jack in at work. I'm really happy with them. The odd skip or two but not bad.

I found a bt patch, it works on my X50v
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/fi...oad/22475.html
however, DO NOT use volume control on pda, or it simply kill the headset (requires reset)

I am french.
The T630 has only the HSP profile and the sound is too awful to imagine to use it as an free hand headset.

The sound is much more better and in fact perfect on a pda with the a2dp profile.

The problem is that you have to adjust the volume on the headset before starting WMP or TCPMP, because if you do it after the 45Orx switch off. Do you have the same issue?

Thierry,

The i-PHONO model works differently. No matter what level I set my WM Player at before connecting the volume level seems to jump automatically to 100% in the background (although the screen doesn't say so if the connection is dropped you soon hear that this is what's happening!). I've also noticed that the slider bar stops working on the WM Player screen as well although the album art does refresh when a different track is played.

The headphones have their own volume control that only goes down to a certain level which is loud enough to be heard above traffic noise but a little too loud for my ears if I'm in a quite office. Unlike your headphones I can increase the volume quite happily without them cutting out.

Funny thing is that I know the headphones can go lower because if I use them with my mobile using the mono sound profile I can control the volume completely.

I don't know if this patch has been further discussed, but I just got interested in getting BT headphones for my X50v (while reading the latest solution for the X51v), and I would like to know how well this patch works. Does it skip as it has done with all previous patches?

EDIT: By the way, do you prefer the X50v, or the X51v? I tried upgrading mine to WM5 but it was disastrous, and I am quite happy with my Ax.

Thanks!

Aximsitebluetoothicon BT Connection on X50v & Jensen WBB100RX

Thanks for the link! I just patched my X50v and it FINALLY paired with my Jensen BT Headphones.

OK, so the NEXT issue is that I'm getting some 'pops' crackling in the background, but only when I'm connected to the Axim. I just started a new thread for this issue...
