It's the same call log of the last three I sent them for the same issue. The answer is always the same "next week"
I just spoke to a friend of mine who is a Systems Engineer for Dell who supports all Dell products for Corporate America. He Said the official Dell line is that WM5.0 is not supportted on X50v period.

meanwhile I have an unsupported windows version that Dell sold me 'but sir, ther was nothing no the purchase order or license agreement that said you dobn't support this pproduct'... mean while in the fine print it probably has 'we weill sell you this product cause we need to sell all these licenses we bought off m$, but I guess we don't have to support it. ooh we've sold enough, we can pull the product offthe website... oh crap not enough ppl are buying x51's well hav to repost the 'upgrade' for x50 users till we make eough money, then not tell everyone that we no longer support this version of os on this product.... mmmmwwwhahahahahaha suckers'
ah the days of palm OS 4.1 bring back memories of when a pda actually worked.
maybe I can trade this x50 in on a second hand tungsten...

I started this post and I'm 99% confident no upgrade is coming.
But, get on the Dell support chat. Keep asking for the "promised" upgrade, and request a timeline. Save the chats and maybe we'll be able to hold Dell accountable for some pretty dishonest or at least disloyal business practices to customers who've spent hundreds of dollars.

what if we all registered for the dell support forums board, and started a thread there. all of us can then keep posting in that thread and make it the longest one ever!
Just a little update for anyone waiting on the promised upgrade/patch for the Axim X50v running WM5.
Finally, after two months of being promised that a "patch is on the way and should arrive within a couple of weeks...", I finally spoke to an honest support rep who talked to his supervisor. Here is what he had to say:
"I have consulted my supervisor and has taken his consent on this. Dell Engineers are sincerely working on this and will very soon release a patch for your axim type also. I will not give you any exact date and time as we do not have that information with us."
Do I believe a patch is coming? Honestly, no - given past records, the X50v is now what we'd call an older model, and not likely to receive any upgrades/patches. It might happen, and I hope it does, but I wouldn't be waiting for it.
That being said, I am running WM5 on my Axim X50v (have been for about 3 months), and after tweaking it, it is stable, fast, and reliable (but that took some time).
As well, if you have an X50v running WM5, and you want a patch/upgrade, keep asking Dell.

Swap you an old Palm T2 for your axim ;)
