I agree..... anybody knows anything from our friends from Dell?

Here's a few more tweaks that help (thanks to others on these forums). Also, with the Filesys Patch, keep v10, and be sure to leavemon when cradled overnight (will be very fast).

7. To speed up Pocket IE (Registry hack):
HKLM\System\GDI\GLYPHCACHE\Limit=32768

8. To speed up start up (from reset):
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\FATFS\Pag ing=0

After it's done, do a soft reset. Actually, it's good to soft reset after each change.
I don't see them. Is it possible I was luck enought to not install them when I upgraded to WM5?

BTW I just applied the fake server and if nothing else my Axim is running quicker and web pages load twice as fast. Still slow as all get out, but better than it was.

I don't suppose there's a way for pages to load faster?

well.... er ummm the thing is it might not have been wm5 at all
I had a couple of freezes after reverting back to wm5... which i've managed to track down to a dodgy SD card. Now that i've got rid of that i seem to be going fine.

Not sure that i'd go back to wm5 though

The FILESYS Patch is what by far will increase the speed of your Axim (v10) - however, only if you leave it on your cradle for several hours a day to do its thing.

As for the files, they automatically get there, but if they're not in your Windows/Startup folder, all is good.

I roll back to 2003se finally to gain the full speed of my ppc
Even after I 've apply all the tweaking and patch

wm5 sucks with skyscape application, and load very slow
still slower compare with 2003se in x50v after I 've upgraded all the application to be wm5 compatible

I just did the same thing, rolled my X50v back to WM2003SE.

There is a lot to like about WM5, for me the way that apps are stored on the Flash instead of RAM and many other small improvements but it's way to slow and the 3rd party software support is not there yet. I can't have TomTom locking on me every 20 minutes and still stay sane. I'll keep a look out for updates and might try again in a few months time.
