Full refund for my 6 month old X50v

I bought an X50v in August with the free upgrade to 2005 and installed it in December. I have had all the problems listed and then some.
I called Dell and of course they had me down grade to 2003 and all is well, but that is not what I bought. I called my sales rep. and he and his boss offered to let me buy a new X51v at a low price (lower than I paid for the X50v, and much lower than there $399.00 deal today) , I told them I would let them know.
I then called customer service, they had business customer service call me back. I told them of the problems and that I bought it for the 2005, they put me on hold and when the came back they offered me a full refund that I took. My next call was to my dell rep. to buy the X51v with 3 year complete care at a lower price than I paid for the X50v (next day shipping).

My point here is that if you bought your X50? with a free update to 2005 then it has to work or you get a refund, the free upgrade is an implied agreement that it will work and if not they have to take it back or make it work in a reasonable time frame.

When mine arrives (don't want to mess things up before I get it) I will post who I talked to. If you bought it with the free upgrade (says that on the invoice) and through a business account you should have no problem.

Strange... You are trading one "defective" PDA for another "defective" PDA... That does not make any sence to me.

Interesting account. And I must admit, I'm torn. I bought mine at the end of September, and I, too, bought it with the expectation of a functional WM5 upgrade and from a small business account (don't want to count the workstations, desktops and laptops in this office. And it would be nice to have a new axim, but truth, I like my BT functioning for both work and play. I'm using, and for the most part enjoying, 2003se. So my ax is not the flashiest on the block. But I made that choice in September.

All that said, I would like Dell to fix this and I am pretty disappointed that they have been silent on the x50 support. I will be patient. but being from Austin, I know where Dell lives. :hide:

Good luck to those who can make this argument with all the facts, in a calm and professional manner. And if get returned and replaced, maybe some improvements for the rest of us will finally be released.

I don;t think the x51v is defective at all. Granted the bluestck sucks for a lot of people, but since I don't use it, I've never noticed. Personally (for me) the x51v has been rock solid.

I have to admit the whole thing seems a little odd. There's no way you're just the average consumer

a device that has a defective feature is a defective unit even if you don't use that feature.

The way I see it its a win win situation. I have 21 days to test the X51v and if I like it I keep it, if not I dont send the X50v back for the refund. On the other hand what better incentive for Dell to Fix the X50 than thousands asking for a refund.

Not the adverage consumer but an adverage small business account with all Dell's that I never have to work on.
