New to Axim..What's the deal with Disappearing CF/SD Cards?

I am a new Axim x51v owner, just bought new from Dell. I have read a couple of things here and there in reference to the CF card disappearing. I have had the device now for a week and have had to soft reset the device at least 5 times in order to get my CF card to be recognized.
It has the latest ROM installed from the factory A06. It seems to happen when I first turn it on, like when I want to show the baby pictures I have on the CF card or access a file I have stored on it.
I haven't had that problem with the SD card (yet) thankfully because it has all of my important programs on it.
Is it just a hardware/software problem with the x51v or do I have a defective unit?

Thanks

It's a problem with all X51V's. Not just yours. Either leave your Blue Tooth on all the time or do this: http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=112638. Either will fix the dissapearing CF problem. The Fake Server fix will also fix the White Screen of Death problem. It's a temporary fix till Dell and Microsoft get their act together.

As msadler mentioned either will fix your problem. I have done the server fix and my cards have not disapeared at all.

Send it back, pay the 15% restocking fee if you have to, and be done with it. Save the refunded money, spend it on another brand PDA or a ultralite laptop.
Dell x51v's and x50v's are not worth messing with. They are undependable and likely to lock up at any time. I have had a x50v for over a year. I will never buy another another one again. 99% it has worked fine, but the other 1%, you end up resetting, reinstalling, or restoring from backups. This is with WM 2003 and WM 2005.
The wifi is a joke, the bluetooth with WM2005 is a joke, Dell support is a joke.
Sorry to denigrate something you just purchased, but I would never depend on a PDA from Dell again. Likely to fail at critical times.

I wonder, I've seen on this site many people saying SD and CF cards disassapear. I don't have a CF card. But, here is something you might try. Install a program on your CF card. I have a 1G SD card that has never once in 4 months dissappeard, but I have programs installed on it. You have both and only the CF card has dissappeard, which does not have any program installed.
