Draining Main Battery
Has anyone had this happen to them? I have my X50V docked in the cradle all night long, and when I went to check it, I get a "main battery is low" warning. When I look at the battery indicator, it says that I have only 1% left on the main battery. When I reseat the Axim in the cradle it begins charging. Obviously this takes some time before it gets to 100%, but eventually it does take the charge. This is the second time this has happened in several days. What gives?

Zoeydanielle, I've left my X50v in the cradle for two or three days at a time, Then when I try to turn it on.....it won't come on at all??? Or it show the main battery low AND THE "BACK-UP" battery Low??? Have no clue why and it does't happen all the time. No fix, sorry, but just to let you know someone else is having similar problem.

Main Battery Drain
Something even wierder happened today at the office where I have a second cradle. I went to take the Axim out of the cradle when suddenly the screen went dark. I said, "No problem, that's happened plenty of times." All I do then is to do a soft reset. When I did it this time, nothing happened. Soft reset, soft reset and soft reset, still no life to the unit. Then suddenly, the unit seems to do a hard reset all on its own. Thank gosh I back up the unit with every synching. I was able to restore my entire memory, but I had to recreate a new partnership both at the office and at home. Can't figure out what happened.

there are 2 possibilities:
1. your battery has died (there's a lifespan for rechargable batteries)
2. something wrong with your cradle
Anyway, I suggest getting a new battery. Having a spare battery for PDAs is quite essential IMO.

I have a spare battery. The main battery is the extended life one and the other, of course is the standard one that came with the Axim. Right now, I have the extended one in the cradle and the the Main Battery is reading 100%. I don't think its the cradle because its doing this both here and at the office. I'll keep an eye out. The unit is only a year old. I haven't used the regular one for a long time, but when the extended started to act funny, I put the regular one in it and it did the same thing. Right now I have the extended back in. I'll keep an eye on it. The regular one which is charging in the cradle, is fully charged.

This has happened to me twice. I leave the axim in the cradle overnight and next time I turn it on it has done a hard reset. The main battery is dead and the backup is fine. What I think happened was I hadn't seated the axim all the way in the cradle. The orange light was on but I don't think the connection was correct. I think instead of charging the battery somehow was draining. Since then I have always made sure that the axim is pushed on the cradle as far as it can go and so far the problem hasn't happened again. My x50v was always kind of snug going into the cradle (compared to my x3i) so it was only after this problem that I started pushing it all the way down into the cradle (mind you it had been about a year before it did its first self-hard reset).

Main Battery Drain
I am convinced now that it is the cradle. I have tried several times to reseat the Axim in the cradle but unless I push down very hard, the battery does not go through the recharging process. I will try your method of reseating, but I think the cradle is shot and I need a new one.

The cradles are easy to break IMO. Have a feel ;) (not too hard) of the actual connector that inserts into the PDA, if it’s even slightly loose you’ve broken it.

I convinced Dell to replace the cradle because it is still under warrany. I got it yesterday, and everything is now okay.
