Battery draining when not in use

How do I get my X50 to maintain a charge when I haven't used it for days? If I leave it un-used (with a full charge) for many days, the battery is almost dead when I decide to use it again. Worst case is the battery is dead and then I have to restore from a backup. Does it use battery power even when turned off?

BTW, the battery is about 1.5 years old now... is the battery just "tired" and needs to be replaced?

Yes it uses battery when off. Plus the battery naturally discharges (almost 100% sure )

This is normal. Your device requires ongoing power to retain its internal memory (i.e., Main Memory, etc.) and settings. The backup battery is just designed to hold internal memory while the main battery is switched.

If you're going to leave your device unused for days again, either keep it on the charger or do a backup before.

Gigi, I leave my cradle at work and carry my X50 in my laptop bag at all times. So leaving it in the cradle isn't an option a lot of the time. I suppose keeping a backup on my SD card is the best option?!?!

I also read in anothere thread that WM5 is better at managing memory when battery power runs out! Is that the case?

Yes, WM5 allows persistent memory which means battery drain would not cause data loss. Having said that, however, the WM5 upgrade on X50 is LOUSY and full of bugs. Instead of losing your data via battery drain, you'll lose it when your device spontaneously hard resets or when it freezes and you will need to hard reset anyway. Check out the numerous horror threads of those who have tried WM5 but had to roll back.

IMHO, your best solution would be to stick with the stable WM2003SE and backup with a strong utility such as Sprite or Spb Backup.

Why doesn't he buy another cradle. They are "dime a dozen" on Ebay. That should solve his problem.
