powering on problems

Hi, I am not sure if this has been covered earlier. I have a x50v for about a year and it has functioned pretty well!! I recently upgraded the OS to WM2005. Since then I find that the power on switch does not work quite often requiring me to do a soft boot. I also noticed that battery charges very erratically. Is this due to the software upgrade and is then better for me to go back to WM2003.
thanks
sree

These are definitely symptoms of WM5. The fake server trick may help. It usually does with the X51 but I haven't followed the issue on the X50. It seems like most people with the X50 either give up and go back to WM03SE or convince Dell to exchange the X50 for the X51.

I purchased my x50v used ( i know) w/ 2003 operating system. I upgraded to Mobile 5 and am experiencing the same problem. I can't say that it was doing it before, but the darn thing wont respond to the power button. I have to soft reset it several times a day. Have you figured anything out on this, or is there anyone else having problems?

Thanks
Matt
