Hard reset after battery switch

Hi,
Recently I switched batteries and when I restarted I got the option to push one button to erase all memory or to not do so... naturally I choose no, but I still ended up getting a hard reset. I tried this a few times, and always get the same. The Windows battery monitor says that my backup battery charge is "normal".

Does anyone know what the problem is here, and if I can fix it somehow? Maybe one hint is that the first time I had the problem, I also had complaints that battery latch being open or something like that... but lately I do not get that message..

Thanks,
Grant

Same issue happened to me on my X50v and the only thing I could do was a full erase lossing all my contacts.... I got so mad that I called Dell for an Exchange on a x51v which save the data on the internal flash memory which is not supposed to be lost.

Yea. That's one of the few things the Axim x51 has over the x50. The x51 can be dead for days, no battery yet all your data will retain in the ROM. Its a great feature. It makes your Axim ALOT more reliable.

My old Toshiba e740 always lost its power and used to fustrate me. I think it was one of the reasons I got out of the handhelds for a while until I saw the x51 with WM5 didn't have this issue anymore.

OK, I seem to have found the answer, maybe...

Odd... I had this problem some weeks ago, there where not many threads that offered a solution, now I see many... A05 upgrade problem maybe...

Anyways, what worked for me (so far) is that I left the thing in the cradel for 72+ hours (based on other threads about the 80% charge problem, needing 3 days charge before or something before something... I forget now..) and now, when I switch batteries (wellll, take it out and put it in again), my PDA does not kill all the ROM data such that I had to start from scratch... Now, when I put in my other battery it does not start at all... sigh.. I still need to figure that out..

Conclusion: first take you battery out for 24 hours, then leave your PDA charging for 72 hours, and then give it a try (hard boot maybe too - hold hole button in, and power on at the same time).. oh, dont forget to unlock the buttons ;-)
