can non-gaming video performance be improved?
There's been much discussion regarding improving GAPI. However, having moved from an iPaq 4155, I notice a HUGE difference in screen redraw speed. An example is watching the screen redraw when browsing files in File Explorer or Pocket Word. When the SIP is collapsed, the redraw is very noticeable and slow, as is scrolling.
This is really annoying, and it persists even with the processor running full speed (though it is better than when in power saving mode).
I've noticed that the redraw is much faster using "Real VGA" mode--that is, with pixel doubling disabled. When I reboot with SE_VGA set to Real VGA, the display redraw becomes noticeably faster.
So, my question:
Is there a way to speed up the screen redraw when using non-GAPI applications?
