x50v Headphone Jack Sound cutting out

Hi -

My trusty x50v, just out of the 1 yr warrenty, losses the left channel of sound if the headphone plug / wire is nudged in any manner. Twisting the jack will get the stereo sound back until the next bump, which is really annoying.

Its definately the PDA and not the multiple headphones that I have tried.

I use it day in and out to play Mp3's, especially on bike rides and jogs.

The same issue felled my x5, but at least I got 2+ years out of it.

Can something like this be repaired? By whom? Is it worth it? Thanks.

How far out of warranty. There is documentation of troubles with the x50 audio jack. Dell may be able to offer you some advice. You've got nothing to lose.

Make sure that the jack is clean and there is no guk (yes that is a technical term) in it. You should also be able to see the contact that engages the sound. If it is just the jack, it may be able to be replaced.
