Aximsitex50icon x50v Screen Freeze

Well, this is my first Axim Site post. So, bear with the newbie.

I'm having some annoying screen freeze issues with my x50v. The screen basically freezes and won't turn off. I've tried a soft reset without any luck. The last two times eventually I had to do a hard reset. This last time it froze-up the soft reset turned the screen off, but did not reboot. I tried to wait it out and put it in to charge. Once complete, took off charger with no luck. Went back to it several hours later, placed on charger, and it needed a charge again.

So, it seems like the battery is somehow draining even though the screen is off and no other indication that it is on. Could that be possible?

I did check, the lock button was not on.

Could the battery / backup battery be going bad?

Today, when I placed it in the cradle, it performed a self hard reset.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Everything you mention is "possible" maybe not probable. I suspect your situation is a serious problem with your system and you should, if a warenty is in effect, seek out a replacement. From what you describe you seem to have done most of what all of us would try. You don't mention any software that you might have installed recently...you might be surprised at what software can do. Also have you done a hard reset? Sorry can't be more help .

No longer under warranty. System is about 2 years old now.

Yes, I have gone through hard resets. Rebuilt the system and then in a week or two the issue comes up again. Come to think of it, the locking often happens during a sync.

Specs: WM 2003 SE, A05 ROM (recently upgraded this).
Software: all the standards, did upgrade to ActiveSync 3.8.0, QuickVerse (which has been installed and working for quite some time).

I'm really suspicious about the battery drainage issue. When docking, it seems to always need a recharge. Even if I've not used it!

Could it be an issue w/ ActiveSync and I should try the 'fake server' tricks suggested elsewhere?

Worried

I am having similar screen-freeze problems...when i go to put in my password, it acts as if I am not doing anything....or it puts in the wrong thing. So I can't get past my password. I've done tons of soft-resets, guess I'll try a hard one......any other ideas?

Aximsitex50icon X50v Screen Freeze Update

Well, I performed a hard reset of the x50v.

After about three weeks of no issues, the problem has surfaced again. Whatever is happening , I can say that it seems to go into a mode where the battery is being drained. I can tell because it gets warm and even though I have not used it (I can't see anything on the screen when I try to turn it on), it will need a recharge.

I'm looking for any advice. It is rather annoying to have it go into this mode and need to rebuild from scratch. Admittedly, I don't have much extras on there, but I rely on what is there.

See details in former threads for content of machine.

BTW, I've checked for the usual suspects, like the lock button being accidentally turned on, or the battery door not being locked. Oh, can't do the 'fake server' trick on WM 2003 SE either.

I'm at a loss (and of course the Axim is out of warranty).
