This morning I turned on my X50v and one of the buttons (the messages button 2nd from right) wasn't working. Since then the center button and the up-down-right-left ring have also quit working. All of the other buttons work fine. I have performed a hard reset and several soft resets, but nothing helps. Other than the buttons, everything works fine. Naturally they are the buttons I use the most. Any ideas?

My wife's x50v has stopped responding to screen touches on the top half inch...

If you dont need the other two buttons functions you can remap them to the two you need. Otherwise, it sounds like a hardware issue and time to call Dell for a repair/replacement (unless you feel like trying to take it appart yourself...)

Also, be sure the lock switch is off, it might be half-way or soemthing and locking half the buttons (just an odd thought)

I already did that as much as possible, but the up-down-left-right functions are kind of a pain to be without--effectively I'm missing 6 buttons. I'm out of warrantee, so if anyone knows of a guide on how to take the thing apart, I'm willing to try. Otherwise I'll put up with it until I can't stand it and get a new one.

Is the X50v running WM5? If so chat with dell and get it upgraded to an X51, if it's not, install WM5 and then go chat with dell! (there's a guide on here on best ways to get your X50 traded for an X51) That might be the best idea. Even out of warrenty, some ppls have gotten theirs swapped.
