Apologies if this is a FAQ or something.. I tried searching and looking under "Resources" for support FAQs but maybe I'm either blind or am not that great at searching... Anyway...

A couple months ago I ordered Windows Mobile 5 to upgrade my X50v. I ran through the upgrade and everything seemed to be ok. However, when I was finished I couldn't get it to sync. I was busy and thought maybe I was just doing something wrong or messed something up so I sort of put it down and forgot about it.

Now I've got a bit more time, I've tried to sync it with my work PC and my home PC and when I connect it, it seems to just not see it. If I look in the Device Manager, it sees an extra network connection, but that's about it.

I tried installing the latest Activesync.. and after it's installed and it tells you to connect your PDA, and I do... And then it sort of "searches" for it for a while and then gives up and says it can't find it and to check the connections (or whatever) etc.

Has this happened to other people, or is this unusual behaviour...? I noticed a few posts about the upgrade to WM5 not being a great idea for the X50v.. But nothing about it not being recognized (specifically) after the upgrade.

I'm using Windows XP SP2 all patched to date both at home and at work... And McAfee virusscan on both as well, but no software firewall.

I've tried soft and hard full resets (but that doesn't reset it back to the original Windows version, does it?) and nothing helps, so far...

Any thoughts or suggestions would be very much appreciated... :)

Microsoft has a link on its website for troubleshooting Activesync. I would suggest you check it and follow it's instructions for troubleshooting. You may want to close your McAfee and see if it makes a difference.

If you decide to go back to windows 2003se there is a posting thread that will assist you in the process. Dell has a file that will assist in turning back to wm2003se.
