if remember correctly, when such condition happens (i.e., when the 2nd FULL battery is inserted, but axim keeps showing the previous battery level),
the charging process is normal and eventually when the battery back to full, so is the battery level displayed.

Add me to the list as well (using X50V).... Everything used to work fine with two batteries before (swap them when one is at almost 0%, with a fresh one, no hard reset prompts, etc). I started to have this when I was using WM2003. I upgraded to WM5 (then to A02 ROM) with the hope that this will be fixed. Unfortunately it is still there...

It is just puzzling that this is OS or ROM independent. Anyone out there with an asnwer/idea?

Cheers!

Wow, add me to the list also- although this problem seemed to start for me after receiving a refurb x50v from Dell (by buttons stopped working), then upgrading it to WM5, then to A02. I went back to WM2003SE A05 and have had no end of power problems since. If I don't have the Ax connected to a charger for a period of time, say a few hours or more, more often than not, it either doesn't power on or comes up with that "a memory error has occurred" message. If it doesn't power on, I have to soft reset, and a lot of the time the soft reset doesn't work. I have to then soft reset again, and then boot into safe mode via Pocket Plus. As soon as it boots in safe mode, I can reset again and boot normally. What a pain! And I did do a full reload.. now I'm trying to use resco's today plugin as a launcher and keep pocket plus on the device, but not as a today plugin. I'm still having the problem but soft reset times have decreased :-)

I wonder if Dell's WM2003SE "downgrade from WM5" image is somehow different from the regular A05 upgrade image?

I've got a similar (the same?) problem.

I started by getting the prompt to hard or soft reset after swapping batteries (there's a separate thread I started on this somewhere), but now not only do I get the prompt to H/S reset, now the battery meter does not update when the fresh battery is inserted.

As well as the above posts behavior, I notice that if you swap a "full" battery for a partially depleted one, instead of the battery display updating immediately to the new lower level, it counts slowly down as you watch...

X50V, running WM2003SE - I'm not sure how you find the ROM versoion - the "About" screen shows Ver 4.21.1088 (Build 14260.2.0.5)

Hmm. Not seen the creeping down - it comes in at the old level for me straight away (after unavoidable soft reset). It's obviously not version specific if you're on WM2003SE, and I've had it since I upgraded to WM5, and still when I upgraded to A02 ROM. Everybody seems to be on X50 or X50v though. Does this occur with X51 does anyone know? I'm still of the opinion it's a hardware (backup battery) issue.

BTW, to find your ROM, look in System Information on the System page of Settings.

I have a replacement x50v on the way from Dell, so we'll see if any of these problems go away...

seems that this issue happens regardless of the OS version

got my replacement Friday afternoon. Did a backup and then a restore to the new unit.... all my problems have disappeared. Amazing what a difference having a good backup battery makes...

Presumable you got a refurbished X50v w/ 2003SE on it under a warranty on your first replacement as I would have thought any X50v warranty would be over by now. Have you put WM5 on (or will you not be)? What method did you use to backup and what software - especially battery monitors, hacks etc. - did it restore (ie can we finally eliminate software issues)?

Interested,
Jon

I had an extended warranty on it so it was still covered. My first replacement was a refurb, yes, as is the one they just sent. I did have wm5 A02 on the first refurb and then I cut back to WM2003SE. Won't be doing that again :-) Used Sprite to backup and restore.
