My X50v died yesterday too.
Worked fine in the morning, I was using bluetooth to check email, etc. Then, after lunch, it wouldn't come on. (I thought that maybe I had left it on, which has happened before, draining the battery).
When I got home, and swapped batteries, it didn't come on then either. Then, after a little bit, I decided to try a hard reset. Came up, restored a couple week old backup, then connected it to the computer and tried to restore a backup I had conveniently made the previous day. Stopped responding during the restore, and I rebooted the computer and did another hard reset.
I was lucky enough to get one more restore made, then it locked up again. After that, the best I've had is the Dell screen, today I don't get any display period.
Guess I didn't have good luck with the X50v model. This was the 2nd replacement, but since I'm 10 months out of warranty, no replacement is in the offing :(
Guess I'll go back to my X5 temporarily, until I can decide what direction I want to go. I liked the internet access via bluetooth. Do I go with a Treo 750 (Cingular)? Buy another PPC with Bluetooth? Go with a Palm (I've had them in the past)?
I don't know whether it is worth the bother to try to sell the 2 batteries and USB cradle on eBay, especially since the power cable is usable on my X5 in the short term.
