X50v Freeze

For no known reason my X50v has frozen and nothing I can think of will unfreeze it. The LOCK button is off and the unit won't soft or hard reset. Whenever I try either, the progress bar at the bottom slides to about 8/10's the length and stops. That's it. Doesn't matter if the battery is full or depleted. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

leave the battery out of the ppc for 8 hours. If that doesn't work, call dell.

The very first reset screen with the blue background and the Dell name and logo. The progress bar runs along the bottom then stops about 4/5 of the way across. That's it. Nothing more until another hard reset when the same thing happens. I sent the unit to a PDA repair outfit in Texas and they told me it needed a new mobo for $225. I passed.

Ouch! Sorry to hear that.

You could get good used X50v at that price.

Worse than sad... virtually criminal, and I let Dell know it. the unit was barely two years old, babied for all of it's short life... never dropped, exposed to extreme temperatures or even yelled at too badly. I wasn't, and aren't happy. The design life of a $400 piece of electronics should be more than two years. That said, it's actually the best PDA I'd ever owned.

this is what killed my x50mid that I bought in september 2005 it died in feb 2006 so I called dell and they replaced it with another x50mid that shortly developed directional pad problems(pressing right would open calendar) so I told dell and they replaced that with another x50mid that developed battery charging problems a month later so after dealing with that for 2 mos I called dell in may and they replaced it with an x50v and in june it had the problem u described once and I kept getting screen corruption then in july it completely froze again but snapped out of it once again but continued to have screen corruption so after the 2nd freeze I decided to call dell and they upgraded me to an x51v which is what I still have today and making this very post on.

God I wish mine was still under warranty. I Have a dell axim x50 mid and it was upgraded to WM5 1 1/2 ago and it freezes 8/10 of the way. I try to hard reset it but no go. Any ideas on how to revive it? I already bought another one on ebay for 140 but i would like to have a spare.

And make sure it's a good, fully charged battery that's in there.
