My x50v was working fine, I powered it off put it in my laptop bag , took it out a couple of hours later it was, the case was very hot. It wouldn't power on so I pulled the battery put in the extra life and now will not bootup, it just locksup at dell screen. I've pushed the reset pulled the battery choose the reset to factory setting with no change. And of corse it is out of warrenty. Is it fixable or do I need to replace it?
wow I've been gone for almost 2 weeks (ans sure missed my axim) It is running wm5 and it has been setting all this time. Still the same so it looks like I have to get another one. Thank you for the info.
Thanks, not locked, put it to lock and nothing at all works, cant soft boot or hard boot nothing, it works like it should....so that's not it Thanks again.
I had the same thing happen to my x50v. I didn't do anything, in my opinion. Just one day after soft-reseting it or hard-reseting it, I can't remember at this point, the progress bar for the reset would go almost all the way and then stop with about half an inch of progress bar to go. It never finishes. I personally think it is a permanent memory error. I've hard reset it, soft reset it. I've left the battery out and put it back in. It's been like this for months, maybe a year or so. Ultimately, I took my brother's x51v, which he doesn't use and just bought a back up x51v.
I'm sorry to say this, but I don't think you're going to fix your Axim anytime soon.

Mmmm if its out of warranty then maybe consider opening it up. There is the off chance there might just be something loose, heard many issues about bust battery latches. One of our more techincal posters should guide you. Although I don't like the sound of overheeating.

Moe (Simpsons) on judgement day:
"I've done things that I am not proud of, and I have done things that I am proud of that were quite frankly disgusting"
I used for a few weeks the f**kn WM5 on my x50v and one day it refuses booting. So I read the procedure for back to wm2003 using sd card with the bootloader and the firmware on it, so I get back my pda but without the BIS.
In fact, every time it soft reset is aplied, it takes 10 minutes exactly to work normally, I guess the OS is looking for the bis, and after 10 minutes stops its search.
I'm still looking for a tool to help to recover at least the good sectors from the bis.
The explanation is for the exaustive use of BIS by WM5, as the BIS is on a NAND flash, this technology degrades it chemical properties in the write cycles.
Take in mind the write cycles are not simple as create or delete a file. In fact, every time you create or delete a file it can consume up to 20 read/write cycles or even more. The standard of cycles you can use on a NAND flash is up to 100,000, it depends of the materials and the brand of the chip.
You can see more info about nand flash on wikipedia.
the good news you can still using your pda with wm2003 and sd or cf cards, mounted on the "program files" folder as mount point, so you can install programs and those will be placed directly on your SD card.
As sugestion, just put the really esential apps such as overclockers, pointed to the RAM hd, so in case you need change the card, don't loose your vital functionallity.
Despite the 10 minutes after every soft reset, all will go ok for you.
Regards.
