3 buttons and the D-pad stopped working

The home, message, and contact buttons along with the D-pad decided to stop working. The home, record, wireless, power, and reset buttons all still work. Is there any chance that I can open up my axim and fix this? I was just wondering if anyone has opened this up and seen how the buttons are connected to the pcb, perhaps there's a tiny ribbon cable that came partly unplugged. I'm kind of thinking something shorted and I'm SOL.

Welcome to Aximsite!

There is a small connector under the board that contains these buttons which may have come loose. You will need to open the unit (instructions on this site - do a search) and carefully inspect to see that the connector is inserted properly. You will need a #5 Torx screwdriver. The screws are located under the 4 rubber feet. To separate the case halves, use your fingernail and gently pry apart.

Thanks for the help. I found something on here about opening up the x50v, but I just wanted to make sure that the buttons weren't soldered directly to the pcb before I opened it up.

I've actually been a member here for a long time (more than 2 years), but I forgot my old logon info so I had to make a new name. I don't even remember what email address I registered with, it was so long ago that I registered.
