Axim refuses to turn on, hard/soft reset problem

Hey Everyone, hope you guys can help me with this:

My Axim one day would not to turn on at all, but it can being charged and still 'green lights' me when it is done charging. It would not hard or soft reset . Very recently, however, it turned on for a bit - software remained as it was before the event - and then proceeded to refuse to turn on again. Just today, it turned on again for a very very brief period and then it once again turned off perpetually. Has anyone encountered this before?

Axim:
X50 - 520 MHz
WM5, A02 ROM.

First thing, try taking the battery out for a few minutes.

The failure to turn on sometimes is caused by the lock button (top button, left side) but it really shouldn't have turned on at all but it's still worth checking. Locked is up, unlocked down.

I had a similar problem where my X51v would not turn on, and couldn't soft or hard reset. I sent it to PDASmart. They told me it needed a new motherboard.

seriously?? wow, that's kind of extreme - i may need that, because it seems to be unrevivable at the moment.... thanks for the suggestions anyways

just literally a hour ago, my x50v decided to pack up, what the problem is that even after a soft and a hard reset, the damn thing still refuses to start up and stops near the end of when it loads up, and i repeat that i have pressed both the soft and hard reset but still refuses to load up and am seriously worried that it is completely packed in and 'desperate' measures needed to revive it.

any help would be very useful thnx

My wife's x50 performed the same stunt recently, no attempts to power it back on have succeeded. Anyone have ideas on how to proceed?

Thanks.

Let me only add that mine seems to be very dead as well. Looking for a solution as well.

Aximsitex3icon hi - had similar problem with X50......

Once -

I got home from University to find my axim wouldn't power on. I had left it in the car, on a hot day. Not a bright thing to do :o

Eventually I got it going - here is what I would try if it happend again.

(Im no expert, but have spent many hours fiddling around with the axim)

1. remove all cards from the axim; sd, compact flash - what ever

2. remove the battery, gently clean the terminals on the battery with a rubber
pencil eraser. its a little messy. or use another small rubber eraser.

3. while the battery is removed, check it has not bulged (a sign its kaput)

4. re-insert the battery and be sure the latch has shut properly - Dohhh!.

5. try it

6. if still off, hook it up to a computer or AC power pack ( i dont have a cradle).
try it again if it doesn't come on automatically.

----------> if it does come back to life, please read
http://www.aximsite.com/boards/x50-x...discharge.html

........ if not --> in the interest of science I removed the battery from my axim and plugged it in to my AC power pack. There was no recharge possible but i could still turn the unit on (without the battery) and the battery cover in place.

cheers - good luck.
