Worried My DELL AXIM X50 is DEAD! PLEASE HELP!

Hi everyone.
My PDA is dead. I loaded the wrong bootloader into the device and now its gone. No Hardreset or softreset can help. . Is there a solution to boot any (Linux, too...) Operating System from the SD-Card. Can I repair it? Do I must send this PDA to Dell or something?!?!?

PLEASE HELP ME!

Have you tried WiFi + Power + Reset? Obviously, if you really messed up the bootloader that won't work, but it's worth trying.

The only known solution otherwise is to do a reflash by wiring a cable to the JTAG pins on the x50 motherboard, however I don't think anybody has worked out what the pin arrangement is yet, so you can't unfortunately.

If it's still under warranty, I guess you could try returning it to Dell. You'd have to find out whether flashing the wrong bootloader is covered by the warranty though...

Also PocketPCTechs might be able to repair it for you, you could contact them and ask.

Hi,

Have you looked where you got the bootloader you used?

Maybe they can point you to a solution.

If not, I think you are out of luck.

If you blew away the FLASH in the device then I doubt you're going to be able to fix it apart from sending it to Dell. I doubt there's anything wrong with the hardware - but they'll probably have to put it on the bench and "manually" reload the boot-loader. Probably will cost $100 or so to have it done but then that's cheaper than buying a new one.

Upgrading the BIOS on these guys is something best done very carefully (as you have obviously discovered). Sorry we can't be of more help - you went way past the red-line on this one.

i have had the same problem too PocketPCTech didnt help me at all they could fix it and so they easily took 60 dollars away from me. The best bet is just to return it to dell if you still have the warranty
