serious memory error

I just got back from after a few days away and tried to switch on my Axim X50v which had been left on my desk for two days (not plugged in but with a full bettery when I left) and the screen was blank, I took the battery out ( a new 1100 from cases.com) but it was stuck after some effort it came out and I replaced it with my original battery, when I turned the x50v on it came up with a serious memory error message asking me to press the hard today button to restore or to do a hard reset, I hit the hard today button and it switched on and botted up fine....the last time this happened was with a very HOT mugen high capacity battery which I'd had for about 13 months and what ever button I pressed it hard reset and I lost everything, I have since ditched that battery...but now the memory error has happened again and all the X50v's done has sat switched off on my desk for a couple of days...it is starting to worry me that I can't rely on it as a work tool substitute for my laptop any ideas would be very welcome

Your symptoms are of a dead battery. The PPC (all brands) wakes up at midnight every night to update notices and alarms. If you have anything running on the today screen or in the background, that program may keep the PPC from shutting down again. Because the batteries aren't hurt by, and in fact prefer, to be constantly charging, I'd recommend you leave it plugged in if you plan to leave it overnight. You didn't say how many was a "few days" but it doesn't take long for the battery to go flat, even if it does successfully shut down properly. Lesson is, keep it on power.
