x50v messing 8 GB Hitachi Microdrive
OK here it goes,
Brand new 8 GB Hitachi Microdrive, and nope, it's not a mp3 player ripe out as I have confirmed firmeware version with Hitachi support.
its formated FAT-32 (ofcourse) and was read on my card reader and my CF-PC card adaptor, I did the 4 GB capacity check manually with vedio files and it worked no problem.
next step: plug into the x50v , screen lights up as soon as it inserted then, nothing happend, no CF icon or anything in the file browser, pocket mechanic doesnt see it, so its just not there.
then into my BE-300: ok I get card detected but wrong formate, and the PDA can't formate it.
back to the laptop: oh, now I have the same behavior, card not working on either the flash reader or the adaptor.
in and out in and out : ok, worked once in the adaptor, low level format, then FAT32 format, card is back as new, capacity check passed, and everything seems normal.
once more in BE-300 : strange enough, but it worked, copied back and forth no problem, vedio file played without a glitch, 10-12 pops no problem.
lets try the x50v : same behavior, screen lights up, then nothing.
ok so perhaps its compatability, so lets dig online in the morning.
Next morning BE-300 just for good luck : damn .. card gives the same "non-formated" error ..?! i swear it was working yesterday, just before the x50v, or again it might just pure random luck with the BE-300.
Laptop (reader and adaptor) not working, oh oh, now that must mean something :(
as it stands i spent the whole morning poping in and out, till i finally got through, low level formate then FAT-32 now it works perfectly "again" on both card reader and adaptor, I am not going near any of the PDA's for now.
My question is, any chance this has something to do with the x50v, perhaps sending wrong voltage,..? people at hitachi told me if its working in your laptop then there is nothing wrong with the card, i know x50v (WM5-A02) still has the CF disappearing problem, but i dont have much detailed because that just happend once with me under 2003SE when I turned it off with card inside, but never with A02.
sorry for the long email, but any feedback is appritaited,
Thanks,
