Acctually, I prefer Kubuntu - uses KDE instead of Gnome; much mroe powerful manager.
I install the latest KDE over the stock gnome install. I don't like the way Ubuntu engineers alter KDE. But it's refreshing to see lots of *buntu and linux users here!

Registry hacking and clean-room dll writing are of course legal. Reverse engineering, disecting via hex-editor, and other exploratory methods on proprietary code are illegal.

True. I should have simply mentioned linux in general.
I'm not familiar with waht would be required to extract the SDHC drivers, I had assumed it would be a case of finding the info in the regsitry and jsut copying over soem DLLs and adding the reg data. If more is required, I appoligize for my ignorance.
I acctually was told that there IS a verson of Ubuntu for the Xscale processor, though from the last report, it does not run on the Axim line yet. However Familiar should be getting close, as it now has 100% functionality ont he Ipaw HX6700 (?) which has specs identical to the X51v minus the graphics chip (and possibly other optional/propriatary chipsets)

I tried this today on my Axim X50v with Windows Mobile 2003SE.
The first thing I noticed was that I could no longer see my standard 1GB SD card.
I went down to the shops this afternoon, and tried both a standard 4GB SD card, and a 4GB SDHC - both were invisible to my Axim, even after a soft reboot.
Transcend 4GB SDHC Class 6 appears to works in my x50v w/ WM6 A02 RTM 0-PP.
After a fresh format in a PC card reader, it shows only 165.5M on Total Comander's (Beta 3) Properties/General tab, but 3827.0M free on Properties/DiskSpace tab. Start/Settings/System/Memory/StorageCard shows 3827.01MB Total Storage, so I should be in good shape. After I load apps, I'll load it with large files to make sure.
I tried SDHC in neither WM2003E nor WM5 because I understand SDHC technology is too new for them.

I've been reading these various SDHC issue threads and am aware that there is a request posted on Dell's ideastorm website. If we could all 'promote' the idea then I'm sure Dell would start listening to us. Here's the link. All you have to do is register (which is very quick) and click the 'promote' button for that thread.
Folks, do a search on ebay. Look for a SDHC to CFII card adapter. SDHC card goes in the CF II card and Cf card goes into Axim. I've had a 16gb in my Axim for like over two years now? Still running 2003SE. Make sure the CFII adapter says its SDHC compatible.
