I have a Macintosh and an Axim 50 and the original battery seemed to have died. So I purchased a replacement battery but I am having t problems. First, I left it on the cradle for over 8 hours to boot and there was no increase in battery power. Then I get an error message to hold power and reset. I have no clue what that means.
I think it might be the connection on the Dell which I have alchohol cleaned.
Does anyone know what a typical repair costs? Where is it best to have the repair?
Holding power and reset sounds like it's asking for a "hard reset". This resets the Axim to its factory-fresh status where all data/programs you've entered are wiped off the device. On my X51v, by pressing the power button and holding the stylus in the reset hole in the back of the device for several seconds initiates a hard reset.
If you're looking for repairs for your Axim some folks have recommended Pocket PC Techs.
I'm not sure which X50 you have, but the link should allow to you select your type of Axim.

Welcome to the site! Too bad you have to come here for your first post with a problem though. A couple of things to check. When you put the battery on the cradle does the charge light come on? I am assuming that you have the AC adapter connected to the cradle and it is plugged in to a live outlet. If you are trying to charge it in the back slot of the cradle and not plugged in, it won't work that way. Also if you are putting it in the pda and the cradle but not plugged in to the AC adapter then you probably won't have much luck that way either. Give me a little more info and lets see what we can do to help you.

First of all, thanks. OK, when I put the Axim on the cradle, the light comes on and goes off immediately. Also, I did check to make sure I my AC connections were in order and they were. THough I am a passionate Apple fan, I have really been impressed with the Axim.
Have you tried both charging with the battery IN the device, AND at the rear of the cradle? And do you have another charger (i.e., car) to try?
Thanks for the suggestion and so I was able to charge the battery in the rear of the cradle. Here is what I have determined: there is a problem with the Axim connection. When I place my Axim in the cradle, it has been programmed to "turn on" Missing Sync and that does not happen. So it seems like a hardware problem. What do you think? Suggestions appreciated.
Cancel that last observation. If I am connected by way of the cradle, the Axim is fully operable. When I go to the "systems" to check battery level, it reads 0.

Hmm, I'm not sure what it is, but have you tried a hard reset? Note that a hard reset will make your device go back to factory state so do a backup first. After the hard reset, see if your power problems persist. If they are gone, then you know it is software/settings related. If your problems persist, then you can pretty much confirm it's a hardware issue. BTW, don't restore your backup right after the hard reset. Try charging first. If you restore right away, you may be restoring back the problem.

Hello,
I re-charged the battery (two or so hours) in the back of the cradle. When the light turned green, I removed and installed into my Axim. I turned on the power, followed the prompts to align and so on. As soon as I finished the required steps, the Axim shut down. Doing the same for three times, I could never get beyond the intro steps.
