x50v not working at all after months of no use

For a variety of boring reasons, I stopped using my Dell Axim x50v for perhaps six months. I recently decided to use it again, but got no response from any of the keys. I recharged it overnight, but still nothing happened.

It's been so long since I used this thing, that I'm not sure I even remember how to properly reset it. I held the reset button in the back for many seconds, and tried that in combination with various keys in front, but still no response at all.

Does this mean that the battery itself needs to be replaced? Note, when the unit is plugged in to AC power with its recharger, the power light turns on. But even when plugged in as such, I cannot get the unit itself to activate in any manner.

If there is somewhere else I should be looking at this site for this problem, don't hesitate to direct me there instead.

Thanks.

Just a thought, is the lock switch on the left side in the locked position?

Although you probably already did this, make sure the slider on the right side at the top is not set to "lock" (you should see no red paint behind the slider).

You might try a hard reset. Do this by holding the power button down and pushing the reset button on the back.

that should give you a screen asking if you want to restore factory defaults. You decide whether to do that or not but it's probably a good idea to do so and start anew.

It took a number of attempts, but eventually the hard reset did the job. I think that perhaps the reset button was temporarily stuck.

Thanks all.
