Wireless connection OK but cannot few web pages

My X50 wireless connection worked fine until last week I closed down my Skype connection now I can sign on wirelessly to my network and can send/download email from my server however when i open explorer and search for a web page it just gives me the error message - The page you are looking for cannot be found- and if I try and sign back on Skype I get an error message saying - unable to connect to the internet.
Any help in how I can fix the problem would be very much appreciatted

Thanks Tutchy

Check that your Network settings are correct (typically "This network connects to the Internet" box is checked under the proxy settings but everything else on that page is blank. The "Select Networks" options are both set to the same choice, usually "My Work Network" is the most reliable option for these for both web access and networking.

If these settings were correct, open Pocket Internet Explorer, select Tools, then Options... Clear the history and delete the temporary Internet files.

Sometimes the DNS IP numbers can cause connection problems but it should also interfere with your sending/receiving emails. On home networks, the default DNS is your router's IP and sometimes entering the IPs of your ISP's DNS will allow a better web connection.

Doing this, however, requires setting a static IP on your PPC and that, in turn, does not allow connecting to other networks (hotspots) without changing back from static to dynamic settings.

I am getting a similar problem, but mine is both email and internet. It is the same whether I connect to a wireless or via bluetooth to my mobile phone. If I try send and receive it immediately says finished having done nothing and then comes up with a box saying "Cannot Connect. In order to connect to the Internet you will need to configure a Proxy". Used to work fine. I can create a connection to the mobile with Bluetooth which dials up and connects to the net but email and internet explorer do nt work. Any ideas?

I had similar problems several times: internet not connected after working for a while, "not connect to the network", this time seemed connected but "page is not found" even in cradle.

I tried ikehiker's suggestion in the message "Internet explorer problem" 9/18/07, (go to: file folder, Windows, click "welcome"),
Connection both in "work network", connects to the internet,
Network Cards, select "work",
mine works when WLAN power save mode "enable", (I tried "disable" first)
then, soft reset.
(Odyssey Client should check "Connect to")

I tried to connect "computer to computer" (when enable wireless, go to Network cards, from networks to access, got page connection). Then, go wireless, my wireless signal is still low in yellow bar, slow but works!

I have tried the above for several times, for a few hours, frustrating, finally, it works.

Hope this helps.

YES! YES! YES!
FINALLY!
After months of trying to fix the dreaded Internet Explorer error message "The page you are looking for cannot be found", I finally got IE to work via wireless on my X50!
What finally fixed it?
The above hint that you need to go into
>File Explorer
>Windows
and then click on the "Welcome" program to do a mini-setup of your screen.
Why this was weird glitch was holding back IE from working for months and months is beyond me. All I care about is that wireless IE is finally working again.
Jeez, what a pain.
And what a simple (though completely obscure) fix.
All I can say is Yay!
