Hmm Wierd x50v Battery Problem

Hi,

My axim is about 3 years old now, and I got it with 2 standard dell batteries. I normally keep 1 on charge in my cradle, so when I'm out of power I just swap the battery. However recently whenever I swap the battery, I get prompted for a hard reset. I select cancel and it still does a hard reset. If I leave the same battery in and simply charge it in the dock everything is fine. I suspect that the internal backup battery is knackered, but when I look at its status in the power options page it says 'normal'. I tried leaving the battery out for 2 mins before putting it back in and it just does a hard reset.

Does anyone know if its the backup battery thats problem? If so, is there a way to fix it in the UK?

Thanks for your reply Box, some really good info. However, is there any way I can double check that its the backup battery/cap thats gone without opening my axim up?

I would guess it's the Backup, but really have no firm answer on that one for you. There are quite a few threads here about hard resets when changing battery, maybe one of them will shed some more light for you. Try searching for "backup battery" and you should find quite a few to start with.
Plus someone else is sure to chime in with some more info before too long.

I had the same issue with a replacement x50v that I got under warrenty. iLauncher even said the backup battery had full power, but when I swap batteries - hard reset everytime. I ended up returning the x50v for a different one.

Sorry I'm not much help.

Thanks for the info guys, looks like I'll just live with it for now. I was hoping to avoid breaking out the soldering iron but I guess there's no choice.
