Will updating ROM also update BIOS?

I'm having trouble connecting to the internet, and one of the tutorials said to check to make sure my PDA has the most recent BIOS, Firmware, and Drivers. Since my PDA crashed a few months ago, I'm pretty sure I don't have the latest BIOS, etc. Does updating the ROM fix all of that, too?

BTW, I'm running WM 2003, if that makes a difference.

Thanks!
Donna

The BIOS in a PPC is indistinguishable from the ROM (that is, there is no separate BIOS).

Just out of curiosity, which PPC do you have? You posted in the X50 Hardware forum but the X50 never had WM03. They all came with WM03SE and WM5 was made available.

Assuming your attempts at connecting is via WiFi, check the Troubleshooting section of the WiFi Guide.

I have a Dell Axim X50 and I'm PPC illiterate. I didn't know there was a WM2003SE, and I know I don't have WM5 (how can I tell what I'm running?). On my system information screen, it shows my ROM verson as A02 (01060500) if that helps.

I tried the troubleshooting earlier, and it didn't seem to help. I don't really care if I can connect to the WiFi in my home; I just want to be able to connect on campus or anyplace else that has free WiFi, and I can't.

BTW, I'd posted earlier about OneNote, and I downloaded the patch that someone recommended and now it works fine.

Well, if you know it's not WM5, then it must be WM03SE since that was the only OS the X50 was ever sold with. The version is shown in the Settings/About page.

The main reason for working out the bugs by connecting to your home network is it might make it easier to connect to those away from home.

Well, lo and behold, I got connected. I finally found where I needed to enter my router network key, plus I figured out that I had to hold down on the available network I wanted to connect to and click on "connect." Duh, I know, but for those of us who are aren't quite up to snuff, this is a minor victory.

Thanks for all you do, Ike.
