Help. I can play music through the connector to the external world but I cannot hear music played only on the axim. Also, I can record through the connector but not through the internal mic. Could this be a problem with the trrs connector?

Same problem here with my x50v. No sound or mic through internal spreaker/mic, but when connected to external headphones everything works fine.
Anyone knows how much Dell charges to fix this?

EDIT: Fixed!:approve: I just pressed Power+Record+Reset to enter Dell's sound test mode and it suddenly started to play through external speaker.

This is a pretty common problem. There are quite a few threads talking about this.
The audio jack seems to get stuck.
You can try
Pushing the plug in and out a few times.
Poke something like a tooth pic in the jack and loosen it.
Have the jack replaced.

I can't remember the other fixes people had, but if you search for them you will find them.

I came across the same problem after installing wm6 (by MagLite) to my x50v. Only the Dell test utility did not help. All works fine in test mode, and then again nothing is fixed in Windows: you can hear sounds through external speakers (the jack is fine, I suppose), but the internal one won't wake up.
I also tried quite a number of hard resets, upgraded to A03 ROM, downgraded to wm5 and even rolled back to wm2003se - with the same zero results.
Does anyone have ideas?
