Exclamation My Dell Axim x5Ov is death after flashing WM5 to WM6

I have PDA Dell Axim x50v and I have been flashing Windows mobile 5 to windows mobile 6 while it freez. Now I cant turn it on, even if press Wifi+power+reset whitch should start boot loader but its not hapening. Only way is to flash ROM via JTAG interface. Could you please help me with connection of JTAG interface to systemboard ?? I need to know, where to connect signals Vcc, GND, TDO, TDI, TCK, TMS, TRST.

Thx for help

Kenneth, my thread can only help him if he can access the SD Loader. He said that he can't access the SD Loader at all, and I haven't learned how to fix the axim's bootloader through the JTag port yet. Perhaps some of the other advanced axim users can help with this.

Why would you update to something that isn't even officially supported anywaY?

If you take the battery out and then put it back in will the unit power on, but give an error? You may have to do it several times to get it to work?

Why do people keep "fixing" something that isn't broke?

And then they come here (where illegal WM6 rom discussion is prohibited in the first place) and want to know how to fix their now totally broken (bricked) PDA.

I just don't get it.

Agreed!

To the original poster: Your best bet for help is to go to the place where you got this ROM update and see if anyone there can help you. Messing around with unofficial and unsupported ROMs can leave you totally stuck.

Performing a Jtag rom update is definately a "next level" fix.

The fact that you bricked your unit with the relatively benign boot strap method suggests you may be venturing beyond your abilities.

To answer your specific question, it's been asked before on this site with no answer as to Jtag pinout capability on the X50. (or even if it is Jtag capable)

To my amazment, someone has performed this on an HP device ... with obvious advanced information and abilities...

www.gert-menke.de/jtag-howto

My recommendation: ditch the brick, buy a new one and move on. You'll save hours of fruitless time and effort ....

Not sure if this will help, but I have had similar problems when I created a set of nb0 files to allow me to go from WM2003 A05 to WM5 A02 directly and vice-versa. I would often get to the point that the power light would come on, but nothting else would happen.

I managed to get my Axim back by holding down the Wireless+Power button and then pressing the soft reset button rapidly several times (whilst still holding the Wireless+power buttons). Then I'd wait (holding the Wireless+power buttons) to see if the boot loader/SD flasher comes up. If not I tried pressing the reset button a few more times.

Hope this helps you. Next time I would avoid using roms created by other people and stick to the ones provided by Dell.

Good luck.

This is so true.

Way too many people who are or not savvy enough to properly flash their Axims and end up with bricks instead of a functional pda.

I understand the desire and thrill of having the latest and newest with spending no money but I simply do not understand taking that risk with the cost of having to replace it if it gets bricked.

Definitely not something to do if you cannot afford to replace your pda if it does get bricked, and there have been a lot of users here and other places who have said they cannot be without a pda or cannot afford a replacement.

Buyer beware, especially if it is free as it may cost you the most.
