Is this fixable? Orange blinking light...

So, I have a dell axim X50 here.

I press the power it flashes a orange light. NOTHING ON THE SCREEN :(.

Does this mean I need a new battery or can this be fixed?
What happen?

Stephen

Sounds like it may be your main battery getting low or nearly discharged as that's often when the power button light will flash amber/orange.

There's an old thread about that here.

I've never tried this personally, but I've read you can take the battery out, replace the cover, and see if it will work on the ac supply. If it works then your battery has probably failed and needs to be replaced.

Ok, I had to know. Because I had a fresh backup handy, I went and pulled the battery and it works without it in the cradle. 2 things to remember are; the cover has to be in place and the ac adapter (not a usb port) must be used. The power button doesn't light at all in this state. You didn't mention if you're using an ac adapter or a usb port to charge the x50. The solid orange light you're getting generally indicates it's charging the main battery. Try leaving the device off for several hours and see if the battery will take a charge.

I am able to use an x50 without main battery or battery cover. Running from A/C power. That's how I test some units when I'm in a hurry.

I thought you would get the battery door open error without a cover. Dam%, now I'm going to have to test this too.

Well I just tried this on my x51v and it won't power on without the cover in place and locked. No error message like I thought. It just doesn't power on.

URG!!!

IT was GREEN but the minute I pull it out of the damn cradle, it doesn't turn on and it's orange again if I put it in the cradle...

+

No turning on without battery / cover...

Any Ideas people? (I think battery but idk how to say if it is or is not the unit...)

Thanx

Edit -> From forum i found
"Try this to rule out the battery.
Open the battery cover and remove the battery. Replace the cover and connect the axim to the mains power through either the cradle or ps and adapter. Try powering on the axim. A functioning axim will work this way without a battery"
SO pda is toast.
Thanx for info everyone. Please close :D
