Argh! Is it bricked?!?! :(

So I got a GPS Bluetooth for Christmas and I was playing around with it today.

I dropped my PDA while in its case from about 4ft onto hard floor. Picked it up turned it on still working. Start menu was NOT so I did a hard reset - then it's stuck at the allign screen screen.

I can't get past. I'm trying to load the SD Image Loader by pressing Wireless + Power + reset to NO AVAIL.

Suggestions? :(

Are you sure the lock switch didn't engage when you dropped it?

Actually, to get to the SD image loader, you need to hold power and wireless buttons, then quickly tap reset button 2 times. Keep holding the power and wireless buttons until the SD loader shows up. It might just be that you broke something in your axim and you need to get it repaired (just send it to PPC Techs).

something to try dude... when I did this my screen wouldn't align after a fall from about the same hight in a alu protection case - I remembered I had a screen protector on, so with nothing to loose I took it off and all worked again! I had this feeling that something was "pressing" on the screen...

Either the screen protector (thin plastic film!!) had moved jamming the screen (??) or the act of *gently* pulling the screen protector off did something or the screen had slipped ever-so slightly.. either way I've had no problems since.

Hope you get it sorted, if not I'd suggest if the units out of warrenty (and you're confident to do this) open it up and power it up without the front cover on, see if that works. You may find there is dirt, gunk or muck between the screen & case and cleaning this *may* help... But opening your Ax is not too hard, but not for the faint hearted either (have a search about the forums, there's load of tutorials on this). My advice, go slow, take your time and RT*M!!! (google it!)

well my thinking is - it's was ok before the fall and now the screen is stopped. If' the cable to the motherboard had come out for the digitser I'd have expected the screen to stop working as they are amost at the same place (i think). So my thinking would then be that maybe the screen slipped slightly and this is pressing on the screen. Also the rest of the Ax still works as in the buttons and stuff so I be thinking it's not all that fatal - but could be wrong.

I'd seriously think about the disassemble route. At the moment you've not a lot to loose. I'd not be suspecting the OS as this is kept on Flash memory and a hard-reset would have restored the flash. If you'd have damaged the flash chips then your Ax would be toast. So flashing aint gonna help you there.

All you really want to do is get the top cover off and see if the screen works. Just be careful about shorting things out - I use bits of paper and slide them between things that are touching that look like they shouldn't. Once you see a tutorial it'll all make sense.

If you try that and it still don't work you'll need to send it away fo repair or get a new digitiser off ebay (fitting just the digitiser is not easy so maybe a while screen swap). Or there is a place in the USA that'll fix it up for you for a nice price (approx $200???).

Hope it works out dude...
