One of the things you definitely have to do is disable the power saving mode in your Axim. Did you do that?

Ok, it is connected, BUT to get it to connect I had to set the Authentication to Open and the Data Encryption to Disabled.

When I try to set it to Axim Authentication to WPA-PSK - Data Encryption TKIP, I cannot connect for some reason.

The network key already has ******** in it. When I try to change it, this just comes right back.

Any ideas now?

Umm, i soft - reset my Axim, then re-inserted the wireless card.
Try a soft-reset, then turn on the wireless.
Go to Start-Setting-Connections- Network Cards and see if its detecting your wireless connection (Or any wireless connection)

If its detecting some networks but not connecting, choose one and hold the stylus down until you get a menu then choose connect

The router security is OFF. Power saving mode is disabled on the Axim. The ONLY way I can connect is with the settings Authentication to Open and the Data Encryption to Disabled.

Hmm certainly don't want to leave the security setting off on the router. Only thing I can say is what I said before, all the information has to be the same on BOTH devices (Router and Axim) Security key, network names blah blah blah, etc etc.

Try logging back onto the router, turn the security setting back on, choose WPA Personal, TKIP and set a WPA Shared Key (basically a password) and make sure you save it before you switch pages or shut down Internet Explorer.

Now back to the Axim. Go to

On the Axim. Go to Start-Setting-Connections- Network Cards(make sure Wireless is turned on) and try adding a new connection. Put in all the same information that you put in the router. If it doesn't work right away, try a soft reset of the Axim and see if it connects again......

Make sure you uncheck "The Shared Key will be provided" or whatever that says and type in the shared key yourself

Hope something here helps :(

My suggestion:

Setup your router for WEP encryption.
Write down the network key
Then, go to the Axim and configure
General:
Network name - the name you selected for the network
Connects to - The Internet
Network key:
Authentication - Open
Data Encryption - WEP
Enter your Network key
Key index 1

Just my suggestion. Others may want you to do something else. Once you know the axim works in WEP mode. Then you can try changing to WPA mode.

At least you know the Axim can connect to a wireless network, thats a reason to jump for joy in itself. The rest now is just tinkering with the settings. Have patience, it'll work out. :) Hope I helped a bit.

I totally agree. I went through the same issues.

Maybe I'll get my WPA setup this weekend.

I knew it would because it connected to my old router and other wireless hot spots.

BUT...happy dance, happy dance. The router is secured and the Axim is now connected. You helped me soooo much! Thank you.

The only thing....The Axim shows up twice under "my network" in the Linksys Network Status box. Oh well, I don't care (I don't guess)...just as long as everything is working!!!
