well, the problem is your router, it's just really hard to set-up unlike other router. i got a belkin wireless g router 2.4ghz, it's cheap and easy to set-up.
well if you can't return your router to the store;

use the odyssey client on your connection tab under settings.
then click configure, then add button, then if you know the name of your network type it manually or scan, then click next button, then on the association mode -open if there security is off, -wpa if security is on then unchecked authentication using 802.1x then if -wpa type the password you set on the router to the passphase. and finish.

you can use your dell axim ppc even if your not in a hotspot, the thing is you need a phone with bluetooth. and internet dial-up card. you can buy internet card for just $6 for 10hrs. here's the site Budget Dialup Global Prepaid Internet Access & International Internet Access. enable the bluetooth on your dell axim and your phone. set-up a connection on the connection tab under settings then add a new modem connection on the modem drop down menu select bluetooth. then select "new partnership" then it will scan for bluetooth device, then select your phone model. tap next then type in the access number of budgetdialup. type in your username and password you created at budgetdialup site then your on.
